Established in 1997, Prochesta is a dedicated state-level NGO operating under the Social Welfare Department in West Bengal, located at Bansai Auto Stand, Kanaipur-I, Uttarpara-Konnagar subdivision, Hooghly District (PIN 712234). Our mission is to provide education, care, and holistic development opportunities to intellectually disabled children from underprivileged families who previously had limited access to learning or support.

Currently, we educate 59 children in primary grades (I-IV), guided by a single devoted teacher for academics and activities, with additional support from former students and community volunteers under the leadership of Subir Ghosh. Our facilities include four classrooms, gender-separate restrooms (including provisions for children with special needs), drinking water, and handwashing facilities. While we do not have digital labs, libraries, computers, or internet access, we ensure nutritional support through the government mid-day meal scheme and additional NGO-provided supplements.
Beyond academics, Prochesta emphasizes sports and cultural activities for intellectually disabled children, offering training in football, volleyball, floor hockey, cycling, and more. Our students have achieved recognition in Special Olympics at district, national, and international levels. The NGO also conducts home-care, counseling, and regular health camps—including eye, dental, diabetic, podiatry, and disaster relief services—to strengthen community engagement.
Through sports, cultural programs, health initiatives, and community celebrations, Prochesta continues to nurture the potential of every child, empowering them to grow, participate, and thrive in society.
"As a young para-athlete, I received not just training but genuine encouragement. Bansai Prochesta helped me refine my skills, prepare for competitions, and believe in my own strength. Their support has been a turning point in my journey."
"Their work in the community is truly inspiring. From education to sports to special care, they touch lives with compassion and dedication. You can feel the love and unity in every program—they make real change possible.”
